The following organizations have been selected to receive Service Awards within the 2016-2017 Calendar year:

THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF OUR CLUB SUPPORTERS, WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE FOLLOWING COMMUNITY SERVICES:

PREVENTION FOCUS SUPPER CLUB

This 10 week program allows KenTon middle school girls the opportunity to learn to plan and cook meals from scratch.  Sessions include nutrition, budgeting, and most important of all the opportunity for the friendships to develop as well as personal growth.

WOMEN VETERANS HEALTH CARE

Funds are used for the purchase of clothes, phones and personal care items female veterans need when returning to civilian life.  We are proud to help Women Veterans who have bravely served our Country.

OVARIAN CANCER PROJECT

This group provides education and support to women with Ovarian Cancer.  In addition, they provide advocacy, networking, and research as well as family support.

INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF BUFFALO

Our donation will provide transportation for immigrant and refugee women to and from treatment for Breast Cancer.

STEPPING STONES

This is a 16 bed treatment facility for women ages 12-20 suffering from drug or alcohol addiction.  It is located on the Renaissance Campus and under the Kids Escaping Drugs umbrella.  The facility offers a safe and supportive environment where adolescents can recover and live a drug free lifestyle.

GIRLS ON THE RUN

This is a program for area girls ages 8-13.  Girls learn life skills through conversation based lessons, running games and exercise.

LIGHTHOUSE

Lighthouse is a residential substance abuse treatment for pregnant or parenting women with children.

In addition to the recipients previously mentioned, our Club financially supported:

KenTon Family Resource Center; KenTon Camp Special Place; Kenmore West High School Post Prom Party; TRY- Teaching and Restoring Youth; Hope For Two; Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels; KenTon Community Thanksgiving Dinner; and SABAH.

Our members, along with the Zonta Club of Grand Island and some of our family members, assembled 500 birthing kits which will be delivered to Guatemala.

We were part of the annual Hospice Bouquet assembly.

Also, our members continue to donate time and resources to the North Buffalo/ Kenmore Food Pantry  which serves our 14217 zip code.

ZONTA SAYS NO

The Zonta Club of Kenmore participated in the International “ZONTA SAYS NO TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN” project.  The funds raised at our annual pancake breakfast will be donated to area services for victims of family violence.  This year our focus is on elder abuse. We have trained professionals who provide education and awareness of this growing problem  of elder abuse to area churches and community service groups.  Cornerstone Manor received 60 fleece blankets made by members of the Zonta Club of Kenmore and their family members, and our Z Club members from Mount St. Mary Academy.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of our friends and family.  On behalf of our Club and the people we are helping, THANK YOU!!!!
