Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men. I such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta Internationial has grown to include more than 1,200 clubs in 66 countries with more than 31,000 members.
Zonta plays an important role in the United Nations and currently holds Non-Governmental Organization status. In addition, Zonta has been granted consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, UNICEF, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and the Council of Europe. Zonta mantains active representatives at United Nations sites in Geneva, New York, Paris, and Vienna. Zonta International enhoys a special partnership with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM).
The Zonta Club of Kenmore was founded in 1925 and is committed to serve in a leadership role in order to carry forth the vision and mission of Zonta International and the District 4 Board. The organization strives to be relevant by addressing and supporting the changing needs of women locally in the Ken-Ton community and throughout the world. This will be accomplished by engaging members in service, advocacy, education, and resource development.
